How much does a tennis court cover cost?
Every tennis court cover is custom-designed, so the cost depends on court size and the number of courts, the structure type (shade fabric, waterproof membrane, or steel roof), site and wind conditions, and extras such as lighting and gutters. Can you play tennis in the rain under a court cover?
Yes, if the cover is waterproof. A tennis court rain cover with a waterproof tensile membrane or steel roof keeps rain off the playing surface, with gutters to carry runoff away from the court. Standard shade fabric blocks UV but lets rain through, so choose a waterproof option if wet-weather play matters. On exposed sites, a fully enclosed design adds protection from wind-driven rain.
Can you cover an existing outdoor tennis court?
Yes. We design covers to suit existing outdoor courts, positioning columns and footings around the court layout, run-off areas, and fencing so the playing surface stays intact. A site assessment confirms ground conditions, access, and the best structure for your court before construction starts.
Do you need council approval to cover a tennis court?
In most cases, yes. A cover over a full tennis court is well beyond the size limits for exempt shade structures, so some form of approval is almost always required. What’s the difference between a tennis court canopy, awning and cover?
“Cover” is the catch-all term for any structure over a court. A tennis court canopy is a freestanding fabric or membrane structure that spans the playing area. An awning is a smaller structure, usually attached to a building or cantilevered, that shades spectator seating, player benches, or walkways. A steel roof is the solid option for maximum weather protection.
