Whites Hill in Brisbane required a practical and visually cohesive shade solution for an outdoor courtyard area used daily by students. Rather than a single large canopy structure, the brief called for a modular approach that could provide extensive coverage while fitting within the existing footprint and layout of the school’s outdoor spaces.
Vector Shade installed six VELOCITY outdoor umbrellas, each measuring 4m x 4m, configured and joined together to create one large, seamlessly connected waterproof PVC structure. The canopy fabric is Ferrari 702S2, providing full waterproof protection across the entire joined canopy area, while the steel columns are finished in Quadpro Marine Spec — a high-performance coating suited to Queensland’s climate. This type of modular umbrella configuration is a versatile alternative to custom-built canopies, and the VELOCITY range is designed from the ground up for permanent commercial installation.
