The Boathouse Tavern at Coomera on Queensland’s Gold Coast is a popular dining and entertainment venue that needed a high-quality outdoor coverage solution to extend its usable alfresco space. Positioned on Dreamworld Parkway, the venue required a structure that could handle heavy foot traffic, provide full weather protection, and complement the tavern’s contemporary architectural fit-out.
Vector Shade designed and installed a tensioned membrane structure over the outdoor area. The membrane canopy uses Ferrari 802s fabric — a premium PVC fabric chosen for its durability, waterproof performance, and the clean visual quality it brings to high-profile hospitality environments. The steel framework is hot dip galvanised and 2-pack painted, providing excellent corrosion resistance along with a refined finish that suits the venue’s aesthetic. Membrane structures like this are among the most architecturally versatile options in the commercial shade structures category, and they’re particularly well-suited to hospitality settings where appearance and performance both matter.
The hero image shows the sweeping tensioned canopy covering the tavern’s outdoor terrace and entry zone, with the fabric panels pulled taut across a steel framework that follows the venue’s roofline. The structure creates a defined, fully covered outdoor zone that guests can enjoy year-round — protected from afternoon sun and Queensland rain events without feeling closed in.
Vector Shade has experience delivering membrane and tensioned fabric structures for restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues across South East Queensland. If you’re planning an outdoor coverage solution for your hospitality venue, contact our team to explore the options.
