St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School in Ascot, Brisbane, is known for its outstanding campus facilities, and the brief for this project reflected that standard — to provide high-quality shade over a beautifully designed courtyard precinct that students use daily for relaxation and social connection. The solution needed to be visually refined, functional, and suited to the prestige of the school environment.
Vector Shade installed a series of VELOCITY Tulip heavy-duty umbrellas throughout the courtyard space. The VELOCITY Tulip is a purpose-engineered outdoor umbrella designed for permanent commercial installation — structurally robust, architecturally considered, and built to last in Queensland’s climate. The canopy fabric is Serge Ferrari 702S2 Flexlight, providing reliable UV protection while remaining visually light and translucent. The steel components are finished in Quadpro Paint, ensuring long-term colour retention and corrosion resistance.
The courtyard images show the umbrellas positioned throughout the landscaped planting beds and seating areas, with the white Tulip canopies complementing the school’s warm brick architecture and lush tropical greenery. Rather than a single large canopy, the multiple-umbrella format allows shade to be distributed across the courtyard in a way that feels organic and visually elegant, while still providing substantial coverage for students and staff.
VELOCITY Tulip umbrellas are a popular choice for schools and commercial venues seeking both aesthetics and performance. To find out more or to discuss an umbrella solution for your campus or precinct, contact the Vector Shade team.
