Somerset College’s aquatic centre on the Gold Coast needed cover that would let swimmers train and compete regardless of the weather, and VECTOR Shade Structures delivered an engineered steel structure with a tensioned waterproof PVC canopy over the pool. The sweeping white roof spans the full width of the lap lanes, creating a bright, sheltered training environment below.
The canopy is made from Serge Ferrari 702S2 fabric, backed by a 15-year warranty, providing complete waterproofing along with excellent light transmission to keep the pool area feeling open and airy. The steel frame is finished with a QUAD Pro marine specification paint system, chosen for its resistance to the corrosive effects of pool chemicals and humidity. As a fully engineered waterproof shade structure, it keeps the pool usable in all conditions.
The result is a reliable, all-weather aquatic facility that supports the college’s swimming programs year-round, part of VECTOR’s ongoing work delivering shade structures for aquatic centres across South East Queensland.
