Silkwood School in Nerang needed a safe, sheltered space for students waiting for the bus, and VECTOR Shade Structures delivered a tensioned membrane waterproof structure to cover the walkway and shelter below. The sleek, angular canopy is paired with custom laser-cut Corten balustrades, adding a distinctive architectural touch to the school’s streetscape.
The canopy is clad in Ferrari 832 S2 fabric, a fully waterproof tensioned membrane engineered to shed rain while standing up to constant UV exposure. The supporting steelwork is hot dip galvanised, finished with the custom Corten balustrades for a striking, low-maintenance result. This kind of tailored waterproof structure reflects VECTOR’s broader capability in commercial shade structures for education settings.
The finished shelter now gives students a genuinely weatherproof space to wait for the bus, adding both function and street-level architectural appeal to the school.
