Rumrunner Park in Mermaid Waters needed shade for its children’s playground, and City of Gold Coast Council engaged VECTOR Shade Structures to deliver a lasting solution. The result is a hip and ridge shade structure, its sweeping green canopy supported on engineered posts to cover the play equipment and surrounding open space.

The canopy is fabricated from Monotec 370 heavy-duty shade fabric, chosen for its durability, airflow and reliable UV protection, while the supporting steelwork is hot dip galvanised and finished with a 2-pack paint system for long-term corrosion resistance. This hip and ridge design blends easily into the surrounding parkland while delivering broad, uninterrupted coverage, a signature of VECTOR’s park shade structures work for councils across South East Queensland.

The finished structure continues to give local families a shaded, comfortable space to play, reflecting VECTOR’s long-standing partnership with the City of Gold Coast Council since 2015.
