Notre Dame College on the Sunshine Coast wanted to give students a shaded, all-weather space to play and gather outdoors, and VECTOR Shade Structures delivered a bold custom engineered steel structure with a tension shade sail canopy over the school’s outdoor court. The vivid blue sails stretch dramatically between raked steel masts, turning a simple hard-court area into a genuine architectural feature of the campus.
The canopy is made from Gale 430 Heavy shade fabric, backed by a 15-year warranty for lasting UV protection and colour retention under the Sunshine Coast sun, while the steel frame is finished in a 3 coat Duratec system to marine standards for outstanding long-term corrosion resistance. As a fully engineered shade sail structure, it delivers wide, uninterrupted coverage over the court for safe, comfortable outdoor play.
The result is a shaded, energised space that gets students outside more often, part of VECTOR’s ongoing work delivering shade structures for schools across South East Queensland.
