Bond University’s Robina campus amphitheatre needed a shade solution to complement its existing tiered stone seating and masonry pillars, an outdoor space already built for lectures, ceremonies and events. Working within an existing structural frame, VECTOR designed and fitted a single sweeping disc-shaped fabric canopy that floats above the amphitheatre on a slim central column, sheltering the seating below while keeping the space open on all sides.
The canopy is clad in Ferrari 832 fabric, a durable tensioned membrane chosen for its ability to hold a crisp, curved profile and stand up to years of outdoor use. As the steelwork for this project had already been completed by others, VECTOR’s scope centred on the tensioned fabric roof itself, specialist work that sits at the heart of our commercial shade structure capability across university and education campuses.
The finished amphitheatre now gives Bond University a shaded outdoor venue for events and gatherings, adding genuine everyday function to an already striking piece of campus architecture.
